Touch-typing as a SEND accommodation
We provide each child with the instruction and support they need to confidently and fluently express themselves through the use of a keyboard.
Our online Typing Club is open to all children, but has proved particularly beneficial for those with learning differences where the use of a keyboard has been recommended as an accommodation for school work.
Online introduction session
New students receive a tailored online (30 minute) one-to-one evaluation/introduction session from their typing tutor. We ask that a parent/guardian also be present for this session.
Online practice classes
Following their introduction, students attend weekly online (30 minute) group practice classes after school during term time. Each practice class is supervised by a typing tutor in real time, who is on hand to offer guidance, answer queries, and keep students focussed.
We can offer classes that are reserved for children from individual schools. Where appropriate, these can take place using the school’s Microsoft Teams system to allow internal monitoring by the school. Places are usually promoted through a school’s club programme, but recommendations for student inclusion by school staff members can be fully accommodated.
Access between classes
Students have home access to the typing program between term-time classes to provide for extra practice time.
Certificates & trophies
Everyone works through the typing course at their own pace, gaining points for good accuracy and speed. Progress certificates are sent to students at the end of term.
Trophies are awarded to students who gain sufficient progress points - UK postal delivery only. Please note: Attendance of several terms may be needed to earn enough points for a trophy.
